The secondgeneration Camaro was produced from 1970 though 1981. After being on hiatus for 1975 and 76, the Z28 returned as the Camaro lineups highperformance model in 1977. The 1981 Z28 was powered by a 350 cu in (5.7L) V8 rated at 175 horsepower. For the first time, the smallblock engine was equipped with a Computer Command Control unit that helped it meet tightening emissions regulations in the United States. Compared to lesser Camaros, Z28 had a racier exterior appearance thanks to unique features including a rearfacing hood scoop and bold threecolor body stripes. Optional Ttop roof panels were also a popular option with sunloving buyers.
