Made from carved horn, these beautifully ornate orchid earrings prove that something can bloom from something hard. Tam, 24 years old, grew up in Van Phu, Thuong Tin, where the people do not have many traditional craft skills. Most people grow rice or have to leave their family to go to a big city to get a job. Tam did not want to leave her small children for factory work and was blessed to meet Au Lac, who taught her how to make horn jewelry. She and the women in her artisan group love their jobs and are happy to put beauty into the world.
