Sega Genesis/Mega Drive non oem reproduction Mortal Kombat 2 video game cartridge.
Mortal Kombat II for the Sega Genesis is a 2D fighting game released in 1994, acting as the direct sequel to the original arcade smash hit. Developed by Probe Software and published by Acclaim, this port is known for its fast-paced, responsive gameplay and for retaining the series' signature high level of violence and blood without requiring a special code.
Gameplay and Features
· Expanded Roster: Includes twelve playable characters, introducing fan favorites like Kitana, Mileena, Kung Lao, and Baraka alongside returning icons like Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion.
· Finishing Moves: Beyond the standard Fatalities, this version introduced Babalities and Friendships, providing lighter or more humorous ways to end a fight.
· Controls: While playable with a standard 3-button controller, it is widely recommended to use a 6-button controller for the best experience. It also featured unique support for the Sega Activator motion controller.
· Secret Content: Features hidden characters such as Jade, Smoke, and Noob Saibot, along with bosses Kintaro and Shao Kahn.
· Graphics and Sound: While the SNES version is often cited as having superior graphics and sound, the Genesis version is praised for its "gritty" feel and lack of slowdown. It uses digitized images of real actors for its character sprites.
