Gold-filled jewelry is made of a layer of genuine gold that is pressure bonded to another metal. It contains 100% more gold than gold plating and is much more valuable and tarnish-resistant. This type of jewelry is an economical alternative to solid gold.
Gold-filled jewelry typically features a solid layer of gold that is mechanically bonded to a base of sterling silver. To prolong the life of your gold-filled or vermeil jewelry, it's best to avoid wearing it while washing hands, showering, applying lotion, using harsh cleaning supplies, or working out. When cleaning, gently buff the jewelry with a soft and dry 100% cotton or microfiber cloth. Avoid using jewelry cleaners on gold-filled jewelry.
