Hip rings are NOT used for fall protection but for maneuverability in job types including arborists, utility workers climbing poles, construction workers tying rebar or operating in a suspended lift or boom. Water repellent safety webbing ergonomically supports back and hips, making the harness comfortable while bearing the weight of the user as well as the weight of tools that may be attached.
