OVERVIEW
Carrot Seed essential oil is derived from the wild carrot, Queen Anne's Lace. It is popularly used in aromatherapy for its benefits to the skin, especially dry and damaged skin. It is also known as a liver tonic, owing to its carotal content.
Carrot seed oil is also a friend of the natural perfumer who will find it blends well with woody/resinous oils such as frankincense and cedarwood as well as citrus and spice oils.
Carrot Seed essential oil is popularly added to facial masks and to preparations for mature skin a sensible choice since carotol, the dominant sesquiterpene alcohol, is a multi-purpose constituent that is well-suited to addressing imbalances in the skin.
Aromatic Profile: Dry, woody, root-like, and earthy, with tenacious wet earth, fatty/oily, slightly spicy dry down.
Appearance: Colorless to light yellow, transparent, mobile liquid.

Safety Considerations: On the basis of Chinese medicine, it is advised to avoid Carrot Seed oil during pregnancy as it may interfere with gestation; otherwise it has GRAS status (Generally Recognized as Safe). Dilute before use. A patch test should be performed before use for those with sensitive skin.
